Visiting local farms are a great activity for the entire family! The colder weather will be here soon, so make the most out of the warmer weekends. Many farms are open this month showcasing their local produce. Thinking of heading out to visit local farms? Here’s 5 reasons why you should!

Local Produce

If you’re heading out this month, you’re going to see a lot of pumpkins, squash and apples (essentially all of the things that make fall great!). There isn’t anything fresher than produce straight from a farm, so visiting one is a great celebration of local food. You can also try our Butternut Squash Soup that’s made with squash grown in Western Ontario.

Get your kids involved! Speaking with local farmers is a great way to help teach your children about local produce and farmers. It’s a great way to help teach them to appreciate their food and where it comes from. There’s no better way to teach them where their food is from by showing them!

Support Local Families

Local farms are run by local farmers. By supporting local farms with visits, you are helping support local families and your local economy! What could be better than that?

Snag a Good Deal

Typically grocery stores mark up produce quite a bit to make a profit. Getting it straight from the farmers bypasses the middle man and can ultimately save you some cash.

Fun Activities For the Family

Whether it’s a tractor ride, picking apples or corn mazes, farms are fun for the whole family! Many farms run activities on the weekend, so you can spend an entire day of fun there.
