Local Love: What Are Some Good CSA Boxes?

A CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) box is an easy and convenient way to support local farms. Not only does a CSA box give you the opportunity to eat fresh, local food weekly, but it gives you an opportunity to get creative in the kitchen! Since every CSA box is unique depending on what’s available, it’s a joyful experience seeing what you’ve been sent.

We support local farms with our products, but we also try to purchase local produce wherever possible. We want to help eating local food easier for you and a CSA box is the best way! What are some good CSA boxes in Toronto? Here are some of our favourites!

Mama Earth Organics – partners with over 40 organic, local farms and delivers weekly to the GTA.

Fresh City Farms – has Canada’s largest commercial city farm at Downsview Park in Toronto where they organically grow on two acres and in a greenhouse.

Wanigan – started in Toronto in 1997 delivering organic fruits and vegetables with a feature on local produce.

FoodShare – a non-profit organization that works with the Toronto community and schools to deliver healthy, sustainable food and food education.

Organics Live – uses only organic produce in their boxes with a strong emphasis on supporting small, local farms.

We’d love to hear from you and how you support local farmers! Share your favourite local food recipes with us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter with #eatlocal. You can also find us on Pinterest where we share our favourite local, sustainable recipes.
